靈覺:「我發心出家,是想成佛,不知道應當怎樣用心才可成佛?」              
  慧忠:「無心可用,即得成佛。」                                                           
  
  靈覺:「無心可用,那麼誰能成佛呢?」                                                     
    慧忠:「無心自成佛成佛亦無心。」                                                       
  
            靈覺:「佛有大不可思議法門,能度眾生。如果他也無心,誰度眾生呢?」               
   慧忠:「無心真度眾生若見有眾生可度者,即是有心,                         
                      即不能脫離生死範圍。」                                                             
  
  靈覺:「今既無心,釋迦牟尼出世,說許多教跡,豈可虛言?」                  
   慧忠:「佛說教亦是無心。」                                                                  
  
   靈覺:「說法無心,應是無說?」                                                              
   慧忠:「說即無無即說。」                                                                 
  
    靈覺:「說法無心,造業是不是有心呢?」                                                  
  慧忠:「無心無業。今既有業,心即生滅。何得無心呢?」                    
  
   靈覺:「無心即成佛,和尚現在成佛沒有?」                                              
  慧忠:「連心也沒有,誰說成佛呢?若說有佛可成,還是有心,                 
                     有心即有煩惱,何處得無心?」                                                   
  
   無覺:「既無佛可成,和尚還得佛用嗎?」                                                 
   慧忠:「心都沒有,用從哪裡來呢?」                                                    
  
  靈覺:「茫然都無,莫不是落入斷見?」                                                   
  慧忠:「本來無見,誰說有斷呢?」                                                       
  
  靈覺:「本來無見,豈不落入空嗎?」                                                      
   慧忠:「空也沒有,何處可落呢?」                                                       
  
     靈覺:「我物皆無,假若有人提刀來取命,這是有還是無呢?」                      
  慧忠:「是。」                                                                               
  
  靈覺:「痛不痛呢?」                                                                            
  慧忠:「痛亦是無。」                                                                         
  
   靈覺:「痛既是無,那麼死後生何道呢?」                                                
   慧忠:「無生,無死,亦無道。」                                                          
  
      靈覺:「既得無物,便得完全自在。但為飢寒襲逼時,你如何用心呢?」          
  慧忠:「飢便吃飯,寒便著衣。」                                                         
  
  靈覺:「既知飢寒,應該有心。」                                                            
  慧忠:「我且問你:若有心,心作何相?」                                               
    靈覺:「心無形相。」                                                                             
  慧忠:「你既知道心無形相,即是本來無心,怎麼能說有心呢?」             

                
  靈覺:「如果你在山中遇見虎狼,如何用心呢?」                                      
                慧忠:「見如不見,來如不來。彼既無心,即使惡獸也不能加害於你。」                 
  
  靈覺:「寂然無事,獨見無心,名為何物?」                                            
  慧忠:「名為金剛大士。」                                                                  
  
  靈覺:「金剛大士有何形相?」                                                              
  慧忠:「本無形相。」                                                                        
  
  靈覺:「既無形相,喚何物為金剛大士?」                                              
  慧忠:「喚作無形相金剛大士。」                                                        
  
  靈覺:「金剛大士有何功德?」                                                               
   慧忠:「一念與金剛相應,能滅無數劫生死重罪,得見無數諸佛。             
                     金剛大士功德無量,非言語所能形容,非心意所能陳述,              
                     即使無量劫住於世間而說其功德,亦不可盡。」                           
  
   靈覺:「什麼是一念相應?」                                                                  
  慧忠:「記憶智慧俱忘,即是相應。」                                              
  
  無覺:「記憶與智慧俱忘,誰見諸佛呢?」                                              
  慧忠:「忘即無,無即佛。」                                                              
  
   靈覺:「無即言無,怎能喚作佛呢?」                                                     
  慧忠:「無即空,佛亦是空。故曰無即佛,佛即無。」                           
  
  慧覺:「既無纖毫可得,又名為何物呢?」                                              
  慧忠:「本無名字。」                                                                        
  
   靈覺:「有沒有和它相似的東西呢?」
